KFC x Amos Ananda 2.0

Local Fashion Designer Amos Ananda collaborated with KFC to launch a capsule collection for the second time. This time around, he envisioned having the bucket hats to be propped up to display them in their full splendor, with little shadow. Hence I had done a overhead lighting with a large softbox that would produce even lighting for the product to achieve that stated in the brief.

We also did a location shoot for the campaign portion. Photos were later tweaked in colour by higher levels at the client side.

The designer, who played the role of Art Director in the shoot, wanted to pay tribute to the past while looking to the future with this collection. Hence, after discussing with him, we opted to go for a slightly more nostalgic aesthetic – i.e. having the iconic Dragon Playground locals would know of, showing both his first collection and his current one as well.

The sun was to the left of the camera, and because the shoot happened around 3pm mid day, the sun was was unforgiving. Thankfully I brought lights and managed to work with the sun to come up with a balanced lit photo.

With three lights, one to briefly lighten the dragon in the back on a boom stand, and two in front of the subjects – one to slightly change the direction and coverage of the light, while the other acts as fill, so the subjects won’t have too much of themselves in shadow.

Below is the “Director’s Cut” version of edit which I prefer.
