This project, (Ph)aces of a Fighter, started somewhere early March 2015, at the NTU Taekwondo Open of the year. It is an ongoing project, as it is difficult to gather everyone at one time, most are taken at competition venues or training ground with arrangements made slightly prior to the execution of the project.
The aim is to document the portraits of my friends, consisting of both the current team and alumni who would have graduated and moved on to Institutes of Higher Learning, from Temasek Poly Taekwondo Team. The title of the project is pronounced as “Faces Of A Fighter”, and its spelling is coincidentally (as I later realised), without the first two letters, the title is spelt as “Aces Of A Fighter” – depicting their prowess in the sport.
Using just a external flashgun to illuminate the subject, and make it stand out from its almost-black background, without using a Black screen. This is done through using the right camera setting, together with reliable external flash triggers.
